Give passengers an in-flight security test earning extra miles for correct answers. Maybe they’ll start paying attention.

I assume there’s a reason for the shape, but there seems to be an obvious change to the mask that would fix this.

I always assumed that the shape of the mask was as it is so that it intentionally does not form a strong seal against the face - if it's providing pure oxygen, then you need some mixing with the ambient air.

There's a book I read once that says that the only people who live through disasters are the ones who pay attention to "useless" safety briefings. (I always check where the emergency exits are when I get on a passenger plane.)
