Well, the horse is beating itself to death. I don't go out of my way to care about stack, yet there it is, breaking constantly for beginners. You'll see, there'll be one at the next FP course, there always is, "It's not working, why? By the way, I used stack."

I know of 4 ways of building Haskell code into an executable: Stack, Cabal, Nix and `ghc -make`. IME only Stack worked on Windows (assuming no WSL). When Nix or Cabal has a reasonable story there I'm happy to switch.

Fwiw, here's a PR that switches to `cabal new-build` for building & uploading a native Win32 `threadscope.exe` as part of CI: https://github.com/haskell/ThreadScope/pull/81/files … As you can see, it's just as easy (the extra noise you see in the patch is the new script trying do things a bit differently) :-)
