I thought about unsafe functions on lists (head, tail) and about the fact that monad was introduced before applicative so it doesn’t require monad to applicative. Also map x fmap etc. Hopefully I’m not off by miles.

Is there anyone claiming otherwise? Haskell was certainly pushing the edge at the time. Mistakes that are made today are far less forgivable.
