I've been teaching beginners for * years. I'm certain stack has never helped anyone. It's easy to make the mistake of believing otherwise.

Could you explain some of the problems you've had with stack? It's always "just worked" for me, even using it with nix.
blissful ignorance 
It imposes a significant penalty which alone is unacceptable. Next, it makes claims of benefits that are not true. It's a net negative.

What penalty is it imposing? Which claims is it falsifying? Can you provide a bit more detail please?

I use stack, but as a package author I find there is lag between when I publish and when I can start using.
