I'm working in #Scala and need to modify a function. No easy way to compile a single file in sbt, so I'm waiting 3 minutes for type errors.

Plenty of FP concepts have originated in the ML (SML & Ocaml) and Lisp families that are strict and probably have more in common with Scala.

I'm learning Haskell and liking it, but imo it's better to accept that tools aren't perfect and cope w/ it b/c the artifact matters more.

Programming is also a social act and if others disagree that your favorite language is the best choice, well, that's a depression recipe imo

I would say that having a favorite, whatever the domain is, that's a depression recipe. Embracing differences is how I like to move forward.

It's how programming tribes are created, how division is fostered, how political stupidity prevails. Another reason to never use Scala.
