C was a pretty good solution for 1975. What's bad is we're stuck with Pike's idea of a replacement.

Uni's teach Python, many know it, Google's trying to get as much value as possible out of people with that skill set not advancing the SOTA.

I don't think anyone looking to Go for pointers on cutting edge PL design. But I think the Go team knows a lot about tooling & runtimes.

I've seen a couple of Rob Pike's talks and Go was distinctly sold as fast & boring in a good way. There were no claims of innovation AFAIK.
