@argumatronic That must have been traumatic. No idea what I would do. In my case, it went on for 9 months, while he lived in my house.

@dibblego You don't have to tell me anything, of course, but did your parents not know? Do they now?

@argumatronic I was declared a Ward of the State (of Queensland) about a year later and so the state became my legal guardian.

@dibblego Oh, God. I am so sorry. I can't imagine.

@argumatronic Well, after a couple of horrible foster homes, I eventually went to one where I spent the next 4 or so years. It was great.

@dibblego I'm glad it got better. Have considered being foster parents ourselves, worried the bio parents would make me murderous.

@argumatronic I saw a lot of troubled kids come through on more temporary arrangements. It's hard to figure out tools to deal with abuse.

@dibblego It is. Kids are meant to be loved and protected by their parents where possible. The state solutions are a poor substitute.
