I have noticed a recent trend of people advising against the use of a motorcycle rear brake in the event of an emergency stop.

@mwotton A longer stopping distance for no other apparent advantage. Those provided in counter-point so far are ridiculous.

@dibblego I guess as you stop harder they become less effective, but presumably still better than nothing unless the back wheel comes up. -
