@dibblego You mentioned that "What is a monad?" is a bad pedagogical start. I agree. What angle do you approach monads from when teaching?

@dibblego The first monad I encountered was I/O. I think that postponed my understanding - I didn't understand the state-of-the-world idea.
@ctford I agree that using IO as "first monad" is not good, but then, so is using any specific monad as the first one. Show purpose.
