@dibblego You mentioned that "What is a monad?" is a bad pedagogical start. I agree. What angle do you approach monads from when teaching?

@ctford The meaning and purpose of "monad" is then immediately evident. You need to give tools to see through all the horseshit out there.

@dibblego The first monad I encountered was I/O. I think that postponed my understanding - I didn't understand the state-of-the-world idea. -
