@nuttycom @dibblego Point is part of the definition of Monad. There are purely monadic functions that you can't write without it.

@pelotom @dibblego The question it raises for me is, are the left and right identity laws separable from the rest of the monad laws?

@nuttycom @pelotom Only to the extent of "semigroup but not yet monoid." It is inaccurate to talk about "monads that break laws."

@dibblego @nuttycom @pelotom After talking with @puffnfresh need a concrete example that would be a monad but isn't since it lacks identity.
