Are functional programming languages really more effective? Or are people that can write functional programs just more effective developers?

@clinton_freeman Properties of functional programs (not languages) allow for reasoning that makes modification of your program easier.

@mbrcknl @clinton_freeman That is why I always say I _need_ types, they are not a nice to have. I actually struggle to program without them.
