Anyone up for a blog post debunking the silly idea that you shouldn't use val in #scala traits (and it eliminates lots of decent code)?

@dibblego Off-topic, but I've found IntelliJ doesn't understand Scala very well... Many false positives and false negatives in inspections.
@mergeconflict agree, but attempts to enforce "Scala Style Guide", which is misguided in more ways than this one with high practical cost.

@dibblego Yes. My fav is when it advises using "def foo { ... }" for methods with Unit result type. -
@mergeconflict Pseudo effect-tracking is worse than none at all.
