Anyone up for a blog post debunking the silly idea that you shouldn't use val in #scala traits (and it eliminates lots of decent code)?

@dibblego I would love to see such a post; I don't think either side of the argument for/against val in traits has been clearly articulated.
@mergeconflict I normally ignore misguided principles, but this one has such a huge practical cost. Even intellij warnings annoy me over it.

@dibblego Off-topic, but I've found IntelliJ doesn't understand Scala very well... Many false positives and false negatives in inspections. -
@mergeconflict agree, but attempts to enforce "Scala Style Guide", which is misguided in more ways than this one with high practical cost. - Show replies
