Seems my attempt at explaining monads in my last post as been as unsuccessful as expected.

@davetchepak you explained what monads are but not why anyone should care

@liammclennan I guess you’re right. @xerxesb made that pt too. The answer I think is the same as the answer to “why FP?”.

@TheColonial @liammclennan @xerxesb The prob is people use it as an arg against FP. “Well, you need monads for FP, & they’re *impossible*.”

@davetchepak @liammclennan @xerxesb The more we talk monads the more we validate their stance. Just talk about writing code in an FP style.

@TheColonial I explicitly didn't mention monads in my FP talk. Also because I don't know what they are.
