A recipe author might tell you to make a pie, and then slice it. But then a waiter may say it backwards: "a slice of pie". The ordering reflects a different view - are we describing it operationally, or are we describing the product of the process from the reverse perspective?
Good question. I read it according to the latter, and so it is not "reversed."
In most programming languages data "flows into" the variable on the left. Expressions that read right-to-left are natural in this context. Also, "describing it operationally" being left-to-right is a non-universal assumption. *That* would be backwards for Arabs, Israelis, etc.
