Marise Payne added,
Hi @MarisePayne I have friends in Buenos Aires, who have been trying to get home since DFAT issued the COME HOME NOW advice, along with other Australians.
They have been there for several days, while flights are being cancelled. I rang the DFAT line, to no avail.
Any tips?
Sorry you couldn’t reach us. We are currently receiving a very high number of enquiries. The @EmbAustraliaBA is liaising with Australians in Argentina. Please tell your friends to send their location, full name, passport and contact details to consular.buenosaires@dfat.gov.au
Thanks. I think @EmbAustraliaBA have generally given up on getting Australians out of Buenos Aires. At least, there are no further flights planned to permit it as far as I am aware.
I was able to talk on the phone to DFAT and was told, I quote, "there is nothing we can do."
While we are unable to guarantee free passage to the airport or a seat, Australian travellers should be aware that there will be two LATAM flights today: LA9513 to Sao Paolo at 12:30pm and LA1104 to Santiago at 13:30.
Thanks, yes this seems to have worked.
