If all I had to think in were Scala, I'd believe mtl created problems as well.

What language do you recommend then ? Haskell ?

I have never banned a technology in all my life. Scala is the first and only one. I am unfamiliar with this idea, but I have conceded it is a good idea. I recommend anything else, but yes, we predominantly use Haskell on our team.
