This is elitism. The more important question is how to grow members of a community to be high-skill, high-knowledge. I don't have an answer, but I don't think elitism is the answer.
I bet, just before the surgeon cuts you open, you embrace elitism. And just before you board the plane. If not, I am happy to visit you with my chainsaw, fly you to my house and do your surgery. Anti-elitism is self-serving nonsense and is disgusting.
