The most I've seen is Herbert hand-wringing over the cost of having a vocal member of the community point out the Haskell Committee's bad behavior, and you threatening physical violence to someone who asked you to back up your claim.

sure I guess I miss understood the entire conversation. I thought you were saying stack is the wrong choice for beginners projects.

Well, a good beginner project is, "let's learn this subject deeply." Stack is definitely not good for that.

GHCi is one of the best tools for teaching. And there's a ton to learn from just what's in Prelude. That can keep you busy for months _easily_. But at some point you need to pull in lens or traversable or transformers or conduit or yesod or what-have-you.
