a) Scala is busted technically. b) The people don't understand Functional Programming. Beginners. c) The people turn into arseholes when you point out deficiencies in their knowledge. Ergo, Scala will never improve. Scala 3 is a shining example of this reliable prediction.

From Odersky's comment it is evident that Scala 3 will have its own effect system. I wonder how is it different than Scalaz 8 ? Speaking of IO, Scala's Future are very expensive as they depend upon native threads. Scalaz inluded concept of Fibres to tackle it.
