No, his “contribute to Haskell” is the only possible response to “Scala adds nothing whatsoever of value to Haskell”, not to doing pure FP in Scala. I think Scala adds interesting things; they’re just not yet as mature.
I am sympathetic toward those who cannot ignore it, and so by implication, I cannot possibly ignore it.

so question, if the world must use the jvm, do we need a new jvm based language that does not leverage java libraries? would that be a good start? or does legacy also tie us to those as well?
