For learning/teaching, none of the above. At this very moment, I am running nixos. http://github.com/qfpl we use nix.

so no supporting tools with syntax highlighting, renaming support etc? Howcome? I might see the reason in a learning/teaching context, but not in a productive context

My text editor has syntax highlighting by default. I hate it. Syntax is not the structure of the code and highlighting distracts from readability. I don't need any of that. I am using Haskell after all. I type without a right index finger. Race me.

Not doubting your efficiency without such tools, doubting my own. Having on the fly compilation and error reporting is precious to me. And I have yet to develop large projects where this is too cumbersome.

ah ghcid, did not know that. So is it cabal+nix or pure nix? Might try new setup using https://www.kuznero.com/posts/nixos/haskell-devexp-in-nixos.html … https://www.kuznero.com/posts/nixos/haskell-devexp-in-nixos.html … https://alpmestan.com/posts/2017-09-06-quick-haskell-hacking-with-nix.html … https://iilab.org/news/2015-03-27-nix-osx-haskellng-hakyll.html …
