A lot of the disagreement that happens here is because state borders don't follow a regular semblance of land borders, which make up a far great difference in culture than arbitrary political boundaries.

This is basically correct, although I think of Texas and Florida as their own regions.

Yeah, they are complicated - but also each very Southern in their own way.They are what I call "complicated Southern"- which is also a dish, best served cold you can bring to potluck or picnic. Lol. (No haters! I have Southern roots and fam in FL! And grandfather born in TX!)
