    Loss of food products during production, storage, and transport is a huge issue worldwide, particularly in developing countries. Everything from top-notch biotech to down-to-earth technologies (see mud silos) can mitigate this spoilage.

    Masks are useful for infected people as a way to limit the spread of their respiratory droplets. Sneezing into your elbow, rather than into your hands, is also helpful for protecting others. But masks will do little for healthy people who are trying not to get sick in public.

    Antoni taught me so much; not just about science, but about life. I am sad that he is gone and will miss him dearly.

    Learned yesterday of the passing of Antoni Rafalski. He was an incredible scientist at DuPont, developed GWAS for the private sector and taught many a great deal about how to do science and collaborate. Made a lasting impact on plant biology. Sad news.
