I’m less interested in knowing who let the cat *out* of the bag than knowing what crazy person thought it was a good idea to put a cat *in* a bag in the first place.

Merchants would sell customers live 🐖 and, after putting a pig in a sack for easier transport, would sometimes swap the 🐷for a 🐈 when the customer looked away. The buyer wouldn't discover they'd been cheated until they got🏠and literally let the cat out..
