Santiago Ramon y Cajal drew the axons present in the human brain by hand between 1890 and 1933. To this day, they are still incredibly accurate and serve as graphics in medical textbooks. And his breakthrough drawings are undeniable as art

Santiago Ramon y Cajal was an artist (but his dad wanted him to be a dr LOL anyone relate?) He would often look at neural tissue through a microscope and make beautiful, intricate drawings. Based on his drawings of neurons, he thought they were discrete units; individual cells

This is a BIG deal. Just remember all the grad students and post-docs who spent long hours in their labs, away from their cats, to get this done. Congrats, and ! via
