"The chasm widens between those who have two homes and those who have two jobs." What a great line. Photo shows the "home" of a woman who works in housekeeping but story goes on to mention school principals living in RVs. 1/x

I am torn by this. I grew up loud - shouting from house to house! - but I soon came to prize the quiet. | If gentrification has a sound, it’s silence. on why the rich love quiet so much, and what it means for everyone else:

Not enough data for this to be an indicator.
Instead, this is a sign that we need to increase our survey inclusion of Black Americans so month-to-month changes in their labor market experience are more statistically meaningful.

Hey so about that Hollywood reporter House of the Dragon interview and how it shows that the Game of Thrones folks still haven't learned anything about the Middle Ages!
Seems a good time to re-up my How It Wasn't: Game of Thrones and the Middle Ages.

Part of why the Marvel movies suck is that, these days, the final boss fight takes place in wide, flat spaces. This undercuts dramatic effect. Ruins tension. Here’s why:

Seen a few takes recently arguing that Russian weapons don’t work well. Having spent time inside a number of Russian manufactured systems I thought I’d address why I think there is often a gap between Russian weapons on paper versus their performance in the field. 1/25

Well, some of the things they've struck that appear completely random or blatant misses make more sense when you look at the older maps. So in some cases their kill chain is 40 years out of date. 23/25

George Bernard Shaw once said that “The English are not very spiritual people, so they invented cricket to give them some idea of eternity."
As proof, Margaret has been standing there since 1893. #GirlsOwnCC

IDK if "fact checking" works... BUT, it will never stop being unnerving to see debunking for something you've never even heard of:
eg "Biden has NOT put a 'weird bug' 'in charge of night time' No one (or bug) is in charge of all the night"
I'm like... people thought that???
