I think most people in infosec are put off by it due to the annoying enthusiasm and lack of understanding by people who are getting into this space because of greed, because of "lambos".

My current standpoint as I experimentally put research time into it is that there are billions of dollars at play and no room for assumptions about security. I want to make sure people are well informed about securing their assets

I'm personally not a big fan of the pure insanity happening right now. It's blocking out and alienating good people from reviewing the space and the possible benefits

However as security people it's our job to bring awareness to those with "a lack of understanding" by using our skills to understand. Completely shunning it with little knowledge of the technology isn't going to help

I fully agree, man. From my timeline, I can only see
@msuiche and@trailofbits doing their part for the blockchain community with regards to security. others in my TL are ignoring it maybe cause of the insanity or they don't think it will last. But yeah, go for it!3 replies 0 retweets 3 likes -

The sheer number of dollars being poured into the space says the opposite. I haven't seen this tool before thanks for the info

It's two different metrics. Lots of money does not mean it's not disinformed money.https://blog.comae.io/porosity-18790ee42827 …

Absolutely...tons of money is being dumped into the space based on hype. However where there are assets to be protected I'm interested. If all else fails I'm still learning a lot from the Trail of Bits crew that I can transfer to other things

Who is actually using cryptocurrency aside from criminals, citizens of countries with collapsing currencies, speculators, and the handful of libertarians who want to end the fed?

Lots of people in the EEA! Broadly, public chains are filled with speculative ICOs but private and/or permissioned chains have more functional apps right nowhttps://blog.trailofbits.com/2017/10/19/trail-of-bits-joins-the-enterprise-ethereum-alliance/ …
