Important to note that the San Bernadino gunman's iPhone is an A6-based 5C w/o a Secure Enclave https://twitter.com/HowellONeill/status/699773733523820544 …

Unfortunately, I think that
@ErrataRob is wrong. The 5C lacks a Secure Enclave and FBI requests are possible. http://blog.erratasec.com/2016/02/some-notes-on-apple-decryption-san.html …Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@dguido Where is the backoff implemented? Software, hardware, or updateable firmware? Apple hasn't been clear. -
@matthew_d_green In A7 and above it's implemented in the Secure Enclave OS. In A6 and below, it should just be a static ~80ms delay in hw. -
@matthew_d_green Read the FBI order request #3. FBI specifically asks for removal of *software* delay. They're 100% aware of the situation. -
@dguido Yes but that's a 5C.

@dguido@kennwhite I suspect apple could also just lift the password file from disk with a signed ramdisk, for John the Ripper to chew on. -
@HenkPoley@kennwhite they can't. Please read the blog, it explains more. -
@dguido@kennwhite ah, sorry, ended up mid thread by a retweet. No idea there was an M to RTF ;)
