To add some color: this is for a non-tech user community who need a place to talk now and then. It's not for @trailofbits, not for people in tech, and not to support a product.

Last time I looked into this, Discourse seemed like the best option. None of the other forum software out there seemed remotely trustworthy.

The cool kids all seem to be using Github these days for that, but IMO the UX of Github for that sort of thing is not good.

If you need more of an organized platform like a traditional forum but more modern and clean then
@discourse works great! -
If you have a smaller community and don’t need to easily search previous posts for long periods of time, then
@discordapp is the best option. Many more casual forums have moved to that. - 2 more replies
