    “People have different ideas about what it’s like to be a woman in surgery, and I want new students to see that it’s changed a lot,” remarks Alina Chen, a student leader for the Women in Surgery Interest Group. “We have a great support system of female surgeons here at UCLA.”

    “I did a project on pediatric encephalopathy in infected infants in Mozambique,” explains Jyodi Mohole, a second-year student. "I thought the physician goes out to serve and take care of patients. But I realized, instead, so much of it is community building.”
