@bhelyer I think inheritance is stupid. It encourages classism and reduces social mobility. But yeah, not a popular opinion ;)

@dgrey0 It's not just unpopular, it's ill thought out. What happens to the assets? What about sentimental but valuable ones? Who decides?

@bhelyer All money to charity or government. Assets <£5k per item can stay with executors, rest auctioned off.

@bhelyer Land and property sold (potentially to family at a discount?) This already happens when there's inheritance tax.

@overwound This already happens to people with parents renting, or if they're not the beneficiary of the will.

@dgrey0 Renting/non-benefic's = different problem. Rich/entitlement = different issue, they'd sidestep your proposal which punishes poorest.

@dgrey0 i've been saying this for a while, obviously it wouldn't work in isolation and it'd be difficult to enforce but it could solve a lot

@st33d @smestorp There are multiple cases of inheritance helping people get on the property ladder. And thus raising prices for all of us :(
