“What you lookin' at? You all a bunch of f***in' assholes. You know why? You don't have the guts to be what you wanna be? You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your f***in' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy”.

Blast from the past: Sept 2014 I did my first PR (of a series of rejected PRs) to modernise 's backend template. It took me another 3 PRs and 2-3 from to get a fresher look for every1 (~2017). I guess this proves that the Production team NEEDS front end devs

Yesterday I wrote a custom element theme switcher and today I thought I would test it in the real world. It didn't broke my site so it's a pass

I think one really powerful thing is using with JSDOM. So, for example, I might want to dynamically inject some <span>s around words to do some text effects. I can do this in the build. The old way was having a jQuery plugin manipulating DOM on the client.

Browsers can animate at least 4 things cheaply: position, scale, rotation & opacity. is still useful for checking if CSS triggers re-layouts or reflows.

Some of the best designers I’ve worked w/ had 0-2 yrs of experience. They’re curious. They question old patterns. They break rules. They’re open to trying new ideas. They’re hungry to learn. They quickly get better over time. They’re flexible. Don’t just hire Sr Designers.

I wrote a blog post about frontend and why it should be a top priority for service teams. "Web performance can mean the difference in someone being able to get what they need from government or abandoning their task completely."

eBay had a big year of performance optimization: ~ smaller payloads, smart prefetching & edge-caching had an impact. For every 100ms improvement in search page loading time, they saw a 0.5% increase in Add to Cart count! ⚡️
