At UN ACT Group anniversary discussion "Working methods for a more accountable, coherent and transparent UN Security Council," cites Council limitations in a time of considerable strain. And yet the Council did find ways to continue work during Covid 19 limitations.

During the Heads of State Summit of the Troop Contributing Countries to the ATMIS Mission held in Kampala today, we agreed on the drawdown procedures for ATMIS troops. We also reiterated calls for Somalia's arms embargo to be lifted & implementation of the Somali Transition Plan.

Though the reality is that many UN staffers have left Sudan, as have diplomats of many countries. Meanwhile Sudanese civilians remain trapped under fire in increasingly dire conditions as essentials of daily life - water, electricity, medicines, food etc - are harder to find.
