Minimizers point to "only" 500 pediatric COVID deaths in the US. This is despite all of the measures of the past 1.5 yrs. What happens as cases and hospitalizations ⬆️ with relaxed precautions? Deaths will follow. How many dead children are needed to drop the "only?"

This is the same question I used to ask antivaxxers that said "only" a few hundred children died each year from chickenpox, measles, flu, etc. Predictably, no one could ever provide an answer.

It often depends on if you are asking the child’s family or someone who doesn’t actually take care of sick children.

As a pediatric nurse I have been astounded by how "500 deaths" in children are minimized. So many lack empathy

We have more children on ventilators and ECMO now that we did last year. Sorry not sorry, this is awful and ECMO in children and adults legit terrifies me.

There are "only" around 500 childhood leukemia deaths per year, but I haven't heard that leukemia is okay, and unlike infectious disease, it's unavoidable.

“How many dead children are needed to drop the "only?"” These are the same people who for 20 years since Columbine have refused to do anything about school shootings and gun violence.

Let’s put them all back into tight indoor quarters without masks…. That’ll help….

I was just arguing with someone who called it a few micromorts. Apparently, socialising is more important than a few deaths. 🙄
