          It’s such a “I TOOK ENGL 101! MY TEACHER SAID I NEEDED PEER REVIEWED RESEARCH!” moment. At best, we don’t have time to explain it’s to help prevent students from using info from any asshat publishing any jackassery. At worst, it’s because some of my colleagues don’t “science.”

          I can honestly say as someone who has completed an IRB and done research (only as a grad student) I have no idea how something gets “peer-reviewed”. It’s no wonder that term gets thrown around bc so few actually know what it does (or doesn’t) mean
