[cw: child sexual assault] Heh, well, as long as we’re going for “technically correct”... You’re right. “All” Stallman did was defend Marvin Minsky’s rape of a 16-year-old girl. Said rape was facilitated by Epstein, so in defending it, he indirectly defended Epstein’s actions.https://twitter.com/dexter002400/status/1176136689070137344 …

Stallman never defended a rape. I stand by what I said. A rape is something that someone can never defend. What you are talking about is your own perceptions

There is actually no fact that shows that Stallman defended Epstein

That 17 year old girl has only said that was sent to an island to have sex with Minsky. But she never said if it ever happened. And there is an eyewitness that claims that Minsky turned her down. Why do you ignore this?

... stallman literally wrote that he was assuming minsky “had sex” with her (raped her) and then asserted there was NOTHING wrong with minsky doing that.

He never said it wasn't wrong. He was arguing if it should be called rape when we don't really know what happened. It was a stupid argument, but that's what he did. And that doesn't mean he is defending Epstein.

Minsky having sex with a 16-year-old is rape. Full stop. Under ANY circumstances. Someone who believes otherwise should not be in any position of power. And now he isn’t. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

First a bit of context, stallman is known for his extreme “out of the box” thoughts,(heck that is the reason he started fsf). Let’s make clear he is not defending rape at any point. He was just playing around with the idea of what if a 16yo is willing to have sex with an old man?

This! This is the reason why I spent so much time defending him. Anyone who has been following him for sometime knows this. The rest of us are people who get emotional or grossed out by certain ideas or thoughts -- but not Stallman.

He is a genius and a highly logical person. Also, he is a very strong person. I have never seen anyone so idealistic in my life. Most of us are weak, but not him. That is why admire and defend him.

And he is certainly not going to "die on this hill." I know him well enough to confidently say that he is going to come out of this in his usual way. He is fighter and he will fight as usual. That's just business as usual for him
