Updates: Stallman posted what might be the worst non-apology I’ve ever read (and I’ve read a LOT of non-apologies). https://twitter.com/theamyshim/status/1172946689553887232 … The

Note what this apology includes: - a laser-like focus on his OWN experience of the incident - am attempt to shift blame to the media for “mischaracterizing” his words Note also what it does NOT include: - NO regret for having made the comments - NO plan to do better next time

His words *were* mischaracterized. He never defended Epstein and that is a big fat lie.

Correct. He defended Minsky’s rape of a 16-year-old girl, which was facilitated by Epstein.

I, and others with a strong moral compass, do not find that any more acceptable than directly defending Epstein.

He actually called Epstein a serial rapist. This is not about how people "perceive" things. If you are going to blame someone you need facts. Facts. How is this any different from Breitbart and other right-wing media exaggerations?

He defended Minsky’s rape of a 16-year-old girl. Did you forget that part?

He was talking about Minsky. And he was being pedantic about if Minsky raped her or not. There is a actually an eye witness that claims Minsky never touched that girl.

Even if that eyewitness is a lie, Stallman was against the use of the word rape as we really do not know if he actually raped. That does not mean he defends Epstein.

And as I have already said, this whole "Stallman defends Epstein" is based on gross exaggeration and not based on facts at all.
