When Sam and I got together, some of my viewers harassed not only him but his mother and sisters. I remember sobbing on a plane because I felt so terrible for the way he and his loved ones were being treated.
Someone hired a PI to find evidence he was cheating, someone else found porn star lookalikes and sent me videos of them. He received countless emails about what a scumbag he was and how he shouldn’t be with me. This continued for the first two years we were together.
I understand what everyone is saying about Ninja. Obviously I have many male friends and Sam has many female friends. We both feel strongly that these are valid and loving platonic relationships...
But in that moment when you’re sobbing by yourself because viewers that claim to love you are doing everything they can to ruin the life of someone you care about deeply, you think “how can I make this stop?”
I have never been a very big creator in the scheme of things. I can’t imagine the level and magnitude of fandom that Ninja deals with but I can bet he and his wife have had long convos about this the same way Sam and I did.
So maybe it’s because of this that this issue doesn’t read to me as “he won’t stand up for m/f friendships” but instead “he’s accepted that harassment is part of his life and wants less of it” and I can’t help but feel for him and the family he’s trying to protect
Anywho, I’ve been seeing lots of valid viewpoints on this and I totally get it. I just figured I would throw this out there to fill in more of the picture of what a fraction of this level of attention can be like

It sucks that people act this way and be complete assholes about it. It makes me realize why youtubers and some celebrities don't have their love lives involved. People are crazy and just downright obsessive with their fave creators.
I just saw like A article, but apparently he decided to not stream with Female creators again. Reading Dodg's story, it makes sense now.
