A corollary to this is that if you are or appear very judgmental, you discourage people from being more transparent around you. This makes the challenge of managing/leading well even more difficult.

People always interpret it as “awkward” but being clear in preferences is such a strength.

This comes back to Radical Candor (a book I love to quote) and “ruinous empathy.” You are so scared to be hurtful that you are overly kind which ends up being unkind in the long run.
