The basic rule for vacations is: * Why am I going there? * Why am I going there *now*? Paris will still be Paris later, but the new moon and "Cheap December trips to Vegas" intersect in 2020, so I'm going to Death Valley in December 2020 instead of Paris.

As you may have noticed, since seasonal weather counts as a "Why now?", I do a lot of nature trips and very, very few city trips.
