Whether we call it 'low endemicity' (endemic at low levels), max suppression, 'elimination strategy', or Zero Covid- the name doesn't matter. It's about getting to low prevalence & keeping it there. Lower the numbers -> more freedom/less restrictions/fewer mutations we will have.

Can the mutation strains, mutate into a virus that is not harmful?

It can and it can become more lethal too. The reason some more deadly viruses spread slower is that they make you ill as you become infectious and such people can't move much and easy to identify. Not so with Covid19, it infects before people become ill so there is no

People using black & white thinking of “We can’t eliminate it” doesn’t help either. This approach isn’t claiming to wipe it from the face of the Earth. Just stop endless lockdown & release cycles. Has to be worth the shot now.

but that's not true is it? if you lockdown on the basis of one case - that needs endless lockdowns with a population with little immunity.

The name does matter because people don't understand "#ZeroCOVID" and we waste a lot of time and energy explaining what we mean by it, or knocking down straw men.
