The puzzle since last Jan for countries: how to suppress this virus while keeping the economy and society open? This is the nut to crack. So how have other countries done it? -Test/trace/isolate (emphasis on isolation!) -Border restrictions -Firefighting with local restrictions.

What's sinking the UK is: -constant comparison of COVID to flu (hint: it's not the flu) -the false economy versus health debate (hint: it's the virus killing the economy, not the restrictions themselves) -thinking UK is somehow smarter than all other countries in the world.

I’d really like that also, especially serial testing in place of isolation for close contacts of positive cases ?

Don't mention that tracing app to me Devi, why notify me 2 wks after exposure and THEN ask me to isolate. Much use as a chocolate teapot - humph

You, too? Old (80+) friend of my husband has the app, told to isolate, "but we should have contacted you 10 days ago so you only have to do 4 days". At least you could *eat* a chocolate teapot!

Then why isn't it "isolate/test/trace/isolate" or something? If we want to emphasise the isolate, why not put it first? I know it's a bit chicken and egg, but would that not give it more weight? Also, paying people to isolate is just obvious isn't it?
