They ignore scientific advice because they say they have to balance the virus & the economy But economic experts say this 'balancing act' strategy is the worst of all worlds, & that zero covid is the most effective way to protect lives & livelihoods https://www.mckinsey.com/business-functions/strategy-and-corporate-finance/our-insights/crushing-coronavirus-uncertainty-the-big-unlock-for-our-economies … pic.twitter.com/xGgLi557N6

Trying to communicate this for months. It’s the virus killing economies. Pretty impossible to have strong economic recovery with a very infectious virus circulating that causes a high number of hospitalisations. https://twitter.com/devisridhar/status/1332232294992662528 …

Why has it taken everyone a year to figure out what you’ve been saying since day 1?! Most of the people who are making bad choices have never dealt with anything like this, yet don’t listen to global public health experts who deal with infectious diseases 🤯

I think many people had figured it out. There were deep analyses performed of the 1918 flu responses and how those cities suppressed transmission performed better. The insight was widely available. It was a lack of choice/action not knowledge.

How do you actually pursue a policy of zero covid? I could see how you might do this at the beginning particularly with an island nation - close all borders, effective test trace and isolate. But how when the virus has become widespread in the population like it has in the UK?

Robin check out what Australia has done. We can put in restrictions. It might ‘feel’ odd but we could do it. BUT Political will utterly lacking due to UK Govt ideology.

Unfortunately some people think economy is more important than Life. If we carry on down that road . Sadly people will realise Life must come before wealth . There is no point in a healthy bank balance if you're no longer able to enjoy it. PRIORITIES TRUTH and HONESTY 🙏

Yes but politics got in the way if that in the UK - when Wales and Scotland proposed this it was condemned as political posturing .

If Australia can do it so can Europe. In Australia strict border controls between states.
