Really not good. This strain also affects young, healthy people from reports from S. African hospitals. We really need a plan and strategy now to get numbers low & keep them there with travel restrictions. It seems like the tiering system, even at level four, isn’t going to keep this at bag for long - and test and trace isn’t working. It’s gonna be a few months until vaccine numbers make a difference, so what do we do?

Enforcing isolation for all travellers arriving in the UK should be the first step - and should been implemented months ago.

Isolation/Quarantine, and non-essential travel bans from high tier areas into lower, with fines, no exceptions.

I had read that there have been a lot of events with young people in attendance (graduation?) which could account for the increase in young persons affected?

if it keeps mutating and out the range of the vaccine do we keep hiding indefinitely?

No evidence to suggest mutation renders vaccine ineffective, but we have to push levels as low as possible not only to protect lives now but to reduce numbers of mutations happening and the risk one does make vaccine ineffective.
