Going into the holidays, the growing # of kids in the UK going hungry weighs on me. Shouldn’t we be focused on this & getting our public health/Covid/economic situation on track instead of a few days of risky indoor meetings & mixing across the country? #prioritieshttps://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/1339050969313792000 …

The ONE time this government choses to actually stick to it's promise, it's this harebrained one which will undoubtedly result in extra deaths. I'd rather they promised to get COVID under control & stuck to that.

We are in a pandemic after years of unnecessary Tory austerity, facing food shortages and job losses from Brexit

Trouble w/ that approach is ev single time, Govt have been unable to communicate clearly w/ the public & give them difficult news - like grown-ups Its always "turn tide in 12 weeks!", "back to normal by xmas", "world beating!" A can of broken promises being kicked down the road
-
And i actually wonder/fear what will come first. The vaccine bringing us back to something resembling normality OR The public tiring of the lies/U-Turns, totally losing confidence, doing wtf they like, infections soaring, beds full, UK collapsing into chaos.

I think the people are fed up. We were asked to sacrifice our summer, but that opportunity to eliminate the virus was squandered. Then we were told to sacrifice Nov. to save Christmas. That was also wasted. Now we have to sacrifice Christmas. And we know that will also be wasted.
-
Agree. Its all so depressingly short-termist Theyll announce tiers & lockdowns to drag R rate down Which is fine Then rabidly pursue a positive tabloid headline ("BJ Saves Xmas"), only to find themselves in an awkward spot in Jan, having to explain why everythings closing again

I don’t know why you are giving a platform. There is nothing on earth that will stop me seeing my family at Christmas. I haven’t seen them for months and there is a chance I might not see them again. Hospitals are not overwhelmed you are fattening the NHS for it to be private!
-
If your family dies of covid-19, you will never see them again or they will never see you. I wish I could say it's your choice. Unfortunately, it will affect many other people. I'm sick of the lack of sacrifice and entitlement in people like you.

This is so dreadfully sad. Children should never go hungry. I do blame this government as they seem incapable of giving out facts and good strong explanations. They must start treating us like grown-ups
