The real question about Christmas-> do you want to expose the people you love to this virus? Do you want to be responsible for the virus spreading at your home, or as a guest in someone else's? If you don't, be cautious. Don't need govt to tell you that. It's common sense.

I'm less concerned about getting the virus myself. More worried about unintentionally infecting someone else in a chain of infections that gets someone very ill/hospitalized, & puts pressure on NHS. Don't want to be responsible for that. It's bad karma. I'm all about good vibes.

This is why I'll be voluntarily self-isolating for 14 days prior to meeting up with my vulnerable sister. Appreciate that not everyone has this privilege. 😕

Same here. Been doing that on and off to see parents. Very aware that not everybody can.

For those who can quarantine effectively perhaps bubbles can be extended to include other close family.

Those who can self isolate for two weeks before and after clearly should. Equally clearly not everybody can do that.

Thank you! My brain knows this, but I fear I am about to have to have unpleasant discussions with some of my family about this, and can use the support

I did that this morning. They would normally all come to me, but I've told them they can't. It's absolutely horrible, but they all understand our reasons.
