      I sometimes feel like we've overcomplicated the basics of infectious disease prevention: the virus moves when people move. Recognized by states since 1851 at first International Sanitary Conference in Paris given concerns about movement of people along trade routes.

          I really think this is the heart of it. Scientific education isn't good enough for people to understand that the virus only exists for as long as there are people actively infected with it. Interestingly, the miasma theory would - though incorrect - prompt a better response!

          In Canada early on leaders were saying “viruses don’t respect borders” as though viruses book their own tickets on Expedia and call their own Uber to the airport.

          Totally agree. But we're not in the 19th century though, our society slightly changed since then. I travelled to my home town in Italy this past summer and didn't catch the virus. We just need to be careful, responsible and we need check at borders like we do with vet diseases
