The flu will kill more people than covid this winter.

Highly unlikely. If we control Covid, flu cases will be much lower than normal. If we fail to control Covid, fatalities for Covid will be higher than for flu. Latest deaths..”The victims were aged between 62 and 98, and all had known health conditions”... Lockdown fetischists rubbing their hands.. LOVING IT!! Can’t wait .. literally can’t wait.. all that TV and media attention for their hair on fire inflammatory tabloid commentary.
-
Percentage of everyone over 60 with 'known health conditions' is probably pretty high - so are they merely expendable, or to be 'shielded' - but nobody has yet worked out how

Really good article. Perhaps I should stop trying to fathom why UK is just not bothering with proper quarantine and mitigation. It’s so perverse I can’t work it out. I am about to contribute to the economy by buying a new road bike!

Just go and ride. The nutters will still be nutters, however much sense people try to talk to them. People who'd rather trust keto diet pushers and right wing radio jocks over virologists and immunologists are probably beyond help.

Seeing the crowds thronging to Blackpool over this weekend, surely piecemeal local lockdowns are not the way to go. Or at least, a local lockdown must mean confining people to their local region, otherwise what's the point if they all just go one town over and carry on spreading?
-
Cannot believe that the govt decided to give warning of local lockdown. Just lockdown immediately (or from midnight) would mean there are no scenes like those from Blackpool which, in my opinion, were disgraceful.
